about spec v1.0
-was active on the WaReZ scene on aol in the late 90s-2000.
-was a member and in leadership of the group LoTuS. thought it was awesome.
-was NOT one of the uber eliter hacker type guys. was just out there wishing i could meet those guys, and maybe learn something from them.
-did some progging with vb3, and some 6 later on. most of them were personal/lotus type progz that did the usual things, but had our tag. to me that’s what it was all about. everybody was doing the same thing, essentially, but all had their own styles of doing it. a lot of them i just used the .bas files I could get ahold of.

getting the computer & aol
When I was maybe 12 there was a guy my mom knew that was into computers. He gave me a computer he had, it had DOS and windows 3.1 on it. Only time he showed me anything on it was when he gave it to me. Just the basic dos stuff… win to get windows. cd\, c:, dir, etc. Had a game on it, but I don’t even remember what it was, I didn’t play the game. For some reason I screwed around with the dos prompt more than the game he thought he was giving me. But, I never saw this dude again. Nobody showed me anything, I just screwed around, and messed around in windows 3.1 some, and got kind of bored. But, real soon after I was at one of my best friend’s house, and he said, “let’s get on aol.” I said, “what is aol?” he showed me, we signed in at the sign in a screen and that beautiful noise started. we got in and i heard “you’ve got mail” and we continued on to a chat room. We were trying to talk to chicks initially. I wasn’t in warez, or test, or vb, or anything like that. it was like a public chat, and we were just being two teenage dudes talking on this brand new thing we didn’t really even understand. Then all of a sudden, an argument broke out, and next thing I know a big ol’ penis begins to take form in the chat room, and as it comes into full view it reveals the penis is splooging on a man. Now… you can judge me if you want, but as a 13-15 year old boy this mesmerized me, and I wanted to be able to splooge on people who tried to argue with me on this new thing called AOL. I didn’t now how I was gonna do it, but I knew right then, one day I would be splooging myself. We stayed up all night in that chat room just talking trash, basically. I told my mom the next day we had to go find one of the disks. I don’t even remember where, but we did get a disk. It wasn’t long before I was on the hunt.

What are you doing on AOL?
So my mom got me AOL, but quickly I started doing stuff they didn’t like. TOS problems. She came in screaming, “What are you doing on AOL?” I can’t remember if I ever got fully shut down, or if my mom just decided she wasn’t gonna let me keep doing whatever bs I was doing, and quit paying for it. She didn’t know it was already too late.
